2016 Research Walk
Kidney Health Australia’s annual Research Walks were held on 11 September in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Launceston, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, with Host Your Own Walks held in Port Macquarie, Raymond Terrace, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Townsville, Hobart, Coorow and Geraldton.
All walks featured varying distances to accommodate walkers and runners of all ages and abilities with close to 2,500 people participating in each of the Walks held nationally.
Each event, although very different in size and location, turned red and looked amazing. Families, friends, colleagues and a few dogs walked side by side and had a great day as a community. This year’s Walk even introduced a new dress-up contest, with prizes awarded to the Best Dressed Team and Best Dressed Individual! All of the costumes made for a bright, fun and engaging event.
This special event not only brought people together, it also raised awareness of the impact that kidney disease is having on the community and the need for improved support and research, with all proceeds from the Kidney Health Research Walk to go to key research priorities, which will drive health policy, and advance programs that change and save the lives of those impacted by kidney disease
Thank you to all who came to support this event – we look forward to what we can achieve together next year!
