Kidney Health Week

2018 Kidney Health Week (5-11 March)

During 5-11 March 2018 we will celebrate Kidney Health Week, raising awareness about kidney health across Australia. In previous years we’ve shared the kidney health message with the people of Australia – with the help of so many of you, volunteering your time and sharing your stories.

Stay tuned for more information on 2018 Kidney Health Week, or join our kidney community mailing list here to keep in the loop!

2017 Kidney Health Week

To create an even greater impact, in 2017 Kidney Health Australia aligned Kidney Health Week (5–11 March) with World Kidney Day, on Thursday 9 March. In 2017 we shared the World Kidney Day theme of 'Kidney Disease and Obesity – Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys'.

In 2017 we promoted a Kidney Health Australia report that highlights evidence linking obesity to the development of CKD, kidney stones, and kidney cancer. Read “Obesity and chronic kidney disease: the hidden impact” report.

World Kidney Day

2017 World Kidney Day will be held on Thursday 9 March 2017

World Kidney Day is an annual global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys, and to shine a light on prevention and early detection of kidney disease, which affects an estimated 1.7 million Australians - 90% of whom don't know they have it.

While the mortality associated with many chronic diseases including some cancers is stable and even declining, two Australians every hour continue to die with kidney related disease. Visit www.worldkidneyday.org

World Kidney Day  is held on the second Thursday of March each year
Established in 2006, the aim of World Kidney Day is to raise awareness of the importance of kidneys to an individual’s overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. Every year, World Kidney Day highlights a particular health education theme.
