Here's how you can help us

One in three Australians are at increased risk of kidney disease. We are dedicated to helping people with kidney disease, improving their health and quality of life, and that of their families and carers.

As a not–for-profit organisation, Kidney Health Australia relies solely on your support. 98% of our fundraising depends on community support. Your support has a significant positive impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease. Read how you can help Kidney Health Australia below, and see how you can connect with us here.

Please consider making a cash donation. Every dollar helps us to deliver our vital programs and services. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Please consider donating through your employer’s workplace giving program.

As the peak body in Australia in kidney and urinary health, our aim is to advance kidney health awareness, detection, prevention and management of kidney disease throughout Australia. To do so, we seek to identify and work collaboratively with a range of interested parties who share our vision. Support our events

Our annual Kidney Health Walk is our major annual national public awareness event and we always need help parcelling health education information and posters for our renal units and other community organisations.

Our annual Kidney Kar Rally was launched in 1989. Every year rally teams navigate across thousands of kilometres across the Australian countryside. As well as being a thrilling and memorable experience for participants, the event raises much-needed funds to support our national Kidney Kids Camps, and Young Adult Programs.

If you are interested in being part of Kidney Health Week please call us on 1800 454 363 or email volunteering@kidney.org.au.

Fundraise/Host your own event

Have you considered fundraising for kidney health by hosting your own event, or managing collection tins in your community? Perhaps you’d like to support kidney health through fundraising as part of birthday celebrations, an anniversary, in memory of someone, or as part of a challenge you've set yourself? We can work with you in supporting your fundraising campaign, and raising awareness of your event in your community.

Did you know you can build your own fundraising web page? See more about hosting your own event and building your fundraising page here.

Volunteer with us

We rely on the generosity of our volunteers to promote good kidney health through education, advocacy, research and support. The dedicated time and skills of our volunteers are greatly valued and appreciated.

We have various opportunities for volunteers, including and not limited to academic project volunteers, which are typically one-off projects that involve student volunteers who are completing courses in medicine, social work or health promotion.

You can apply to volunteer for a project related to your specific course of study. Course credits may or may not be applicable depending on your abilities and the projects undertaken. Available roles will depend on the state in which you live.

Consumer councils

If you want to have a say on issues related to kidney health, consider joining your local Consumer Council. Our National Consumer Council is made up of the chairpersons of the state councils working with selected members of our staff. Council members represent a range of groups including people with chronic kidney disease, those on dialysis or with a kidney transplant, and carers, nurses and kidney specialists. See more about Consumer Councils here.

Be a guest speaker

As one of our local 'ambassadors' in a city or regional area, you can increase awareness of our cause and attract donations, while presenting kidney-related messages to interested community groups. We conduct regular training programs at no cost to you.

For more information please call us on 1800 454 363 or email volunteering@kidney.org.au.
